As the distilled spirits industry continues to grow and evolve, education is an important part of understanding our heritage, celebrating the present and considering our opportunities for the future. Through a donation from Beam Suntory, the Women of the Vine & Spirits Foundation (501(c)(3) offered three (3) scholarships to the DISCUS 2021 Academy Executive Leadership Program.

DISCUS Academy participants have the opportunity to take courses a la carte or earn a specialty certificate in the 5 key subject domains of the spirits industry: Business Management & Finance, Sales & Marketing, Safety & Risk Management, Laws & Regulations and Leadership Development.

Join Rachel Harris, Vice President, North Central Division at Beam Suntory and share in a conversation with our scholarship recipients about their experience in the inaugural DISCUS program.

Once you register you will receive an email with the link to access the session.  If you need further assistance please Contact Olivia Campbell, Membership Coordinator, Women of the Vine & Spirits.

Rachel Harris is the Vice President of On-Premise at Beam Suntory.

She had planned to be a doctor.  But then discovered a passion for the hospitality industry; and today, she one of the highest-ranking females in our commercial organization.

She is  focused on paving a career path for women in the hospitality industry, empowering and advocating for integral roles within Beam Suntory and beyond.  As a result of her work, teams across the business are united with a common goal of continual expansion and excellence.

Elana Effrat leads with heart and passion for the craft spirits community. Before becoming the Director of Marketing for District Made Spirits in Washington, DC, she worked in all three tiers of the wine and spirits industry. Elana orchestrated one of the most prominent spirits books in the US as the Spirits Portfolio Manager at Martin Scott Wines (Winebow). She continued to push under-represented categories with Blackened American Whiskey as their National Events and Lead Training Manager. This year, Elana completed the DISCUS Academy Executive Leadership Program after receiving a scholarship from the Women of the Vine & Spirits Foundation. She resides in Brooklyn, NY, where you can find her lacing up her roller or ice skates.

Lindsay is an 18-year industry professional who is a strategic thinker and takes pride in solving problems and understanding all involved.  Her experiences include both on- and off-premise chain management, e-commerce, staff development and project management across cross functional teams within her organization.  She strives to curate an inclusive environment for those around her and is always willing to hear other’s voices.  Her drive to join, and then lead, cause driven activities within the organization has been shown in her volunteer roles.

Lauren Reynolds is a brand strategist and global marketing leader who currently holds the position of Global Brand Director of Woodford Reserve and Old Forester at Brown-Forman. Prior to joining Brown-Forman, Lauren spent 15 years in brand marketing and innovation roles at world-class organizations such as General Mills and The Hershey Company.
