In celebration of fall festivities, we're dedicating the month of October to pay tribute to women in the beer industry. Join us and special guest, Jennifer Reda, Regional Vice President Control with Mast-Jägermeister US who will be walking us through the following:

  • Beer Education/Dispelling Myths
  • Ingredients: Water, Malt, Hops, Yeast
  • Ales vs Lagers – What’s the difference?
  • Brewing Process – How is beer made
  • Glassware – why is it so important to beer?!
  • Mass Beer vs Craft Beer
  • Women in Beer – some statistics
  • Beer was my Career – how as a woman can you stand out in the beer industry?

Jennifer has had over 25 years in the beer industry with: Anheuser- Busch, Breckenridge Brewery, Coors, Molson Coors, Miller Coors and ACGolden Brewing Company. She has extensive experience in the beer industry working in all faucets:  Sales, Channel and Brand Marketing, Innovation, and Operations.  Her last 8 years with Miller Coors she was the Director of Sales and Marketing for a craft brewery, ACGolden Brewing Company, who makes and sells Colorado Native Lager brands in the state of Colorado.

Facts to Sip on... brought to you by Corporate Member Nielsen, a study by Auburn University, and Scarborough USA.

According to Nielsen:

  • Among the Total 21+ Female population, 36.1% of Women drink beer.
  • 11.4% of the Total 21+ Female population drink beer most often (as compared to wine, spirits, hard cider).
  • From 2015-2018 craft beer has added 14.7 million new drinkers of which 6.6 million were women - a little less than half.
  • The top reasons people visit breweries remain sampling, education and trying exclusive offerings. Sampling opportunities are “even more important for female craft drinkers,” with 55% of women beer consumers saying that’s why they visit breweries.

According to an Auburn University study:

  • 29% of brewery workers are female, only about 17% of craft breweries have a female CEO, and only 4% of breweries have a female head brewer.

According to Scarborough USA+ Release 2:

  • In some markets, the percentage of female craft beer drinkers exceeds that of males. In Portland, Oregon, the market is 52.7% female. The Providence, Massachusetts/New Bedford, Rhode Island area is 52.6% female.

Fun fact about HOPS:

  • A hop plant is either male or female. Both male and female hop plants produce cones, but the male cones are of no importance in brewing beer, or in any other application. Only female plants are grown in hop fields that are used in making beer. **Science**

Jennifer Reda is currently Vice President of Sales for Mast Jägermeister US covering the 17 state Control Region.  Prior to working for Jägermeister she spent 25 years in the beer industry with: Anheuser- Busch, Breckenridge Brewery, Coors, Molson Coors, Miller Coors and ACGolden Brewing Company. Although no longer on the beer side of the business, she is still very passionate about beer and would love to share some of her knowledge with you!  These days she very much enjoys a “Deer” (Jägermeister shot) with her “Beer” – bringing the Spirit and Beer worlds together.
