Aging Barrels:
Managing Your Biggest
Asset
in a Challenging Barrel Market

Thursday, July 2
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EST

Join Stuart Maxwell, COO of Proof 8 and Donald Snyder, Distillery Consultant at Time and Tasks LLC, as they explore the ins and outs of managing an ever-changing barrel inventory from storage and supply through to selling and compliance.

Together they’ll look at the increasing burden of TTB and State Reporting requirements. From TTB monthly operations reports, excise tax returns, multi-state regulations, managing barrel fill and dump logs, tracking cost of goods sold and profit margin, all while buying and selling barrels in the open market. That’s time taken away from production, customers and innovation. As belts tighten, the producers on top don’t just keep up with the paperwork, they turn that same record into something their customers and regulators can trust.

Stuart will show how Digital Deeds, a DISCUS Innovation Showcase finalist, provide a single digital record for every cask serving operations, regulators and barrel buyers alike, proving provenance, location and ownership at a time transparency is needed more than ever. He’ll explore how operating systems can support compliance and ensure you’re audit-ready.

Donald will give an update on the current aged barrel market, including what barrels are available and average pricing for aged barrels on the market today. He will cover how an increase in aged barrel supply can mean profitable opportunities for non-distiller producer brands as well as offering new blending components for in-house products.
